INTRODUCTORY REMARKS: Our unprecedented (for November anyway) stretch of sunny weather has come to an end today with light snow showers.  At most an inch of accumulation by Sunday, but then continued cold through next week with a continuing chance of snow showers.  Still there currently isn't enough snow to ski even the Whiteface Highway - just man-made snow at the ski area.  Nighttime temperatures  have continued to drop below freezing, so there is considerable ice on all the hiking trails, starting about 3,000 feet.  Traction aids will thus practically be mandatory for any ascents of the higher peaks.  Only a few inches of snow at timberline, so snowshoes are not required.  Nevertheless, be prepared for winter conditions on the summits and remember that it is dark before 5 PM.  Next update on Tuesday, 11/27, when we have a better idea how much snow might accumulate
