Ski trails in the region took a hit from the rain on Saturday night and Sunday, but it could have been much worse. Generally speaking the Jackrabbit Trail and other ski trails in the Tri-Lakes area have all been skied since Sunday and all reports we've received indicate conditions are still pretty good on all the classic ski tours. Ski tracks established in powder conditions last week are now frozen and somewhat crusty. Trails at lower elevations are still thin in spots, and skiers should expect to encounter hard water ice in some drainages and typically wet areas. Untracked powder snow in the woods and on the sides of trails was consolidated significantly on Sunday, but did not seem to develop a crust in most locations we checked, so making tracks off-trail will be quite nice.
Temps will remain in the 30s during the day and 20s at night through the week. We're waiting to see what happens on Thursday when 1-3 inches of accumulation is expected according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.
